Hey you! Yeah you! Do you like altered secondary dominants?! Long dorian vamps by the beach? Maybe even... HYBRID PICKING?? Sure ya do. That's why you'll definitely enjoy my newest composition for guitar and piano.

I entitled it “Wistful Voyage” because the harmony gives the song a nostalgic, journey like character. I’m a huge fan of video game/film composition and this is the vibe I get from many of those soundtracks. I suppose I could’ve called it “Hybrid Picking Etude opus no. 35” but that sounds a bit boring don’t ya think?

I recorded this song without a metronome for either instrument, something that is very unusual for me nowadays. In a world of perfectly edited music, I wanted to add a more human aspect to the performance. For that reason, both instruments were recorded in one take.

This is my Seagull Artist Peppino Acoustic guitar (spruce top/rosewood back) and it sounds HUGE! It is tuned a whole step down. Other notable gear: D'Addario 80/20 Light EJ11 strings, Rode NT5 spaced pair (pointed at frets and sound hole), Audio Technica AT4040 (centered between spaced pair), Roland RD-150, Soundiron Emotional Piano.

Anyway, let me know what you think of the composition! It has been close to a year and a half since I composed something for acoustic guitar. I am always excited to hear what friends, and strangers on the internet alike, think of my music.
